Ubisoft Goes Green, Breaks My Heart
I know, I know, we should all be doing our part to save the planet and all of that other bullshit, but Ubisoft announcing that it was going to do away with it’s in-box manuals breaks my heart just a little bit…and there’s 2 reasons why.
First, I was the kid who would bring the manuals to his Nintendo games and Super Nintendo games to class and read them…no lie, I can fondly recall keeping all 15 of my SNES game manuals in my Trapper Keeper so that I could have something to do during class.
Second, we’re going to see an increase in ‘in-game tutorials’…and seeing how most games don’t give you the option of skipping them (you guys that do, we thank you). This means that if you’re playing a game for the first time, or just want to restart the whole shebang from the beginning…you’re going to have to go through the same BS over, and over, and over again.
Though they really could just put the manual as an option in the pause menu or on the main menu as well…alright I’ll shut up. The first game that will be getting the ‘no-manual’ treatment is going to be the new Shawn White Skateboarding, cause who needs a manual in a skating game?
