tron 3

After the success (yes it was a success) of Joseph Kosinski’s last foray into the universe of Tron in 2010 with Tron: Legacy, many fans have been awaiting word that the series would continue. Only yesterday thanks to a Vancouver City blog was it confirmed that shooting will begin October 5th of this year with Kosinski set to direct and featuring Garrett
Hedlund reprising his role as Sam Flynn.

Those are the only two people attached to the project thus far, but I would assume that Olivia Wilde and Bruce Boxleitner will make a return along with Cillian Murphy as Ed Dillinger Jr. or maybe even the return of David Warner as Ed Sr. (fingers crossed because he makes such a delicious villain). With the easter egg material on the blu-ray disc for Tron: Legacy it was heavily handed shown that Ed Dillinger or his son will be the big-bad guys in the third movie.

For me, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that we would get another chance to see the grid, I just didn’t think it’d happen so soon. Then again, if time on the grid works the way we speculate, things could have significantly changed after the destruction of Kevin Flynn and CLU 2.0. If only they can squeeze another amazing soundtrack from Daft Punk for this film I could die happy.
