The Cape #1 – Mini Review

So I’ve heard of the TV show of the same name but never saw it before it was cancelled. I don’t know how much it may have had in common with the comic book but if the cancellation of the TV show is any sign I don’t see this book doing much better.

I will be honest, I didn’t like it. It starts out interesting enough with detectives trying to solve a murder but as we are introduced to the anti-hero it just goes downhill. I am not against a story about a bad guy but this one didn’t do anything for me, I felt no sympathy for the main character or any of the others for that matter.

The set-up is intriguing, a man who can fly with the help of a cape, and it could have gone a lot of places but chose to go nowhere good. Granted, it did contain the most creative way I have ever seen of getting the police off your back and that bit did make me chuckle but I won’t be picking this title up at the comic shop.
