Star Wars VII Might Be Delayed?

Disney is holding fast to the 2015 schedule, but with the recent departure of Michael Arndt last week…the Moby Dick white-whale of a film just might be pushed to 2016.

The creative staff of Star Wars: Episode VII have been begging Disney to let them push the movie back to 2016 to make room for the change in staff (J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan have taken over writing) as the script is still not even close to being ready. Disney however is a no go when it comes to the delay as it will ruin their well thought out plans.

The megacorporation has a six-year plan that features three films, episodes seven through nine, at least two spin-offs, and Crom knows only how many comic, novelization, and television series. Having the first of this keystone series in Disney’s crown delayed past their hard set date would cause a potential wave of delays on others in the lineup…and in Hollywood that means actor commitments, effects studios working on other projects, among other things. It’s never a good idea to delay as big of a money maker as Star Wars is guaranteed to be.

Could you imagine only having a little over a year to bring a new Star Wars movie to the adoring public? That’s exactly what J.J. Abrams and crew will probably have to do. We wish them the best of luck and will be waiting with bated breath for the movie’s release whether it be in 2015 or 2016.
