In the wake of the failure that was The Lone Ranger, Disney has been hesitant to budget yet another giant flop.

Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will have Johnny Depp showing up once again as Captain Jack Sparrow and was set to begin filming this upcoming year has now been pushed back to summer 2016.

As for The Lone Ranger, yes it’s earned its money back, but it took a whole hell of a lot longer than Disney expected.

Jerry Bruckheimer will be returning as producer and has stated that there are issues with the budget and script that he stated in an interview:

We have an outline everyone loves but the script is not done. We want a script that everyone’s signed off on and a budget that everyone’s signed off on.

So with the failure of summer movies that Disney was banking on being huge hits like John Carter and The Lone Ranger, it seems that they’re less likely to be spending huge 1/4 billion budgets anymore. However, the Pirates movies are one of the most successful movie franchises ever.

It’ll be interesting to see how this all develops, but personally I never made it past the first movie, not because I don’t like pirates or anything, but I found the second film to be pretty to look at but dull. Eh, what do I know anyway?
