New Manga Releases for the Week of October 20, 2015

This week sees new manga releases from Dark Horse Comics, Kodansha Comics, Seven Seas Entertainment, Udon Entertainment, and VIZ Media.

Kaneki is still trying to get used to his new life when Commission of Counter Ghoul agents Mado and Amon start sniffing around for Hinami. Kaneki and Touka are going to have to get them off her tail and fast. No easy task now that Kaneki’s got to bring humans and Ghouls to a rapid truce at the same time.

To add to this, a series of crazy happenings result in the two living together under a single roof. Shusei is known to be a heartless guy and Aoi particularly hates him after he coldly rejected her best friend, so a life of cohabitation seems like a recipe for disaster. And yet, Aoi somehow can’t stop her heart from pounding when she’s with Shusei.

Kazuki Hayazhizaki’s plan to become a swordsman of the prestigious Hayashizaki family changed when he received the Enigmas – the mark of a summoner. His diva, Leme, informed him that she has no powers of her own, and instead uses the powers of divas contracted to the other summoners. However, in order for her to access these powers, Kazuki must make those girls fall head over heels for him first. For now, he has challenged Mio Amasaki – one of the same girls Leme wants him to court – to a duel to prove the strength of the sword and the Hayashizaki style. As Kazuki is dealing with the result of that duel, a figure from his past resurfaces – with a friend.

Tenma learns that 10 years ago, a woman lived in an old apartment house in downtown Prague with twin children, above a sign with three frogs. The neighbors also tell him about the Czech secret police and a questionable fire. Could the twins have been Johan and Anna? Meanwhile, Suk, a young detective in the Prague Police Department, meets a beautiful young woman named Anna in a bar. Suk also crosses paths with Tenma as a new terror looms over them. BKA chief inspector Lunge, now convinced of Johan’s involvement in the serial murders, comes to Prague to find out what Johan really is. He learns that an agent of the Czech secret police created the strange picture book The Nameless Monster, which seems to have deeply affected Johan in his childhood. Lunge manages to locate the “Red Rose Mansion” that inspired the author of the book. There, behind a thickly plastered wall, he discovers an old door and the true horrors that lay behind it.

One-eyed school nurse Hitomi is always looking out for her students as they go through the up-and-downs of adolescence. Whether it’s helping a student through an existential crisis or listening to a zombie girl’s tale of the afterlife, Hitomi-sensei is always willing to do what she can to help. But Hitomi has her own problems to deal with, including a little sister with multiple personalities (all of whom are in love with their big sis) and a co-worker who teases her mercilessly. Can Hitomi keep her own issues under wraps while keeping a watchful eye on her students?

Oreimo: Kuroneko Volume 3 by Tsukasa Fushimi

To overcome the challenge of the Gaming Club, Sena Akagi must team up with Kuroneko, or is it going to be Kuroneko that’s teaming up with Sena? Meanwhile, Kuroneko makes her move on Kyousuke at last. But with Kirino returning to Japan, has the Queen of Nightmare waited too long to cast her love spell?

Things are tense on the island of Cenancle, where a powerful machine called Buer has been wreaking havoc underground. All that stands in its way are two cyborg girls: Nanakorobi Nene, who has a human brain inside her artificial body, and Clarion, the combat cyborg who belongs to inventor Uzal Delilah, at least for now. Nene is determined to protect her new friends, especially Clarion, but she has family on Cenancle too. Nene’s never met her eccentric aunt Takumi, but Takumi is opening her home to Nene and providing her with some unexpected quirks and challenges to deal with.

What do you get when you cross a microwave with a cell phone? Apparently, a time machine. Self-proclaimed mad scientist Okarin and the Future Gadgets team now have the ability send text messages into the past. Will this new found power be used for personal gain? To change the world? Or for something much more sinister?
