This week sees new manga releases from Kodansha Comics, Vertical Comics, and Yen Press.

Akame ga KILL! ZERO Volume 1 by Takahiro

Before becoming Night Raid’s deadliest ally, Akame was a young girl bought by the Empire and raised as an assassin whose sole purpose was to slaughter everything in her path. Because that’s what makes people happy, right?

Readers are treated to a bit of demi-human ringleader Sato’s backstory before being plunged into a breath-taking battle of guns and wits between government forces and the ragtag gang of immortals.

Bloody Cross Volume 10 by Shiwo Komeyama

Alliances have shifted and settled once more, with new lines drawn between the three factions vying for godhood. Arcana’s intention to join the race independently and win divine power for demonkind could cause a huge shift in the order of things if they are able to gain control of the remaining Crusade relics, since they’ve already made copies of Tsuzuki’s and Satsuki’s divine relics. Now that Tsuzuki is allied with Kamuhaburi, the overseers of the Crusades, his first order of business is to help them thwart the false contenders–and secure his own path to victory.

Tsukimi Kurashita has a strange fascination with jellyfish. She’s loved them from a young age and has carried that love with her to her new life in the big city of Tokyo. There, she resides in Amamizukan, a safe-haven for girl geeks who regularly gush over a range of things from trains to Japanese dolls. However, a chance meeting at a pet shop has Tsukimi crossing paths with one of the things that the residents of Amamizukan have been desperately trying to avoid—a beautiful and fashionable woman. But there’s much more to this woman than her trendy clothes. This odd encounter is only the beginning of a new and unexpected path for Tsukimi and her friends.

Prison School Omnibus Volume 3 by Akira Hiramoto

The Shadow Student Council, determined to drive its prisoners (the boys) out of the academy, gets its Expel the Boys Operation (E.B.O.) underway. But the boys have internal turmoil to deal with too.
