Maleficent – Newest Trailer Released

Look at those high cheek bones!

On May 30th Maleficent arrives in theaters so we can all drool over Angelina Jolie. In her latest role, she plays the evil villain in the Disney re-imagining of Sleeping Beauty. Ryan brought you the movie poster in November which got us all excited. Not too long afterward, Brian gave us our first look inside Maleficent with the first trailer. Now another trailer pulls us in further.

This second trailer shows us clips on the Sleeping Beauty role (played by Elle Fanning) and more on Maleficent herself. The film also includes actress Juno Temple (Year One, Dark Knight Rises) and a personal favorite, actor Sharlto Copley (District 9, Elysium). With the cast and characters, Disney’s Maleficent has lined up it is sure to be a success.

Maleficent /məˈlɛfɪsənt/ is a fictional character and the main antagonist in Walt Disney’s 1959 film Sleeping Beauty. She is the self-proclaimed “Mistress of All Evil” who, after not being invited to a royal christening, curses the infant Princess Aurora to “prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die” before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday. The character is Disney’s adaptation of the wicked fairy godmother from the original French fairy tale.

Maleficent has been called “one of the most sinister villains in the Disney canon”.^[1] In Ultimate Disney’s top 30 Disney Villains countdown, Maleficent ranked #1.^[2] She also plays a major role as a recurring villain in the Kingdom Hearts series of role-playing games.
