‘Ladle to the Grave: The Story of Shallow Gravy’ Was So METAL

Last night we got the Venture Brothers Special, From the Ladle to the Grave: The Story Of Shallow Gravy, while it wasn’t a full on Venture Brothers episode (new season is still a ways off) this 11 minutes in heaven was just fine for me.

Basically the show is a rockumentary style for Shallow Gravy, the rock band of Hank, Dermott, and H.E.L.P.E.R playing drums. Who actually only made one song “Jacket” and played at Timmys Birthday Party, and PROM. Yes, two gigs, one song about clothing (so Hank) and they make a documentary narrated (Bill Hader) with some great narrative tidbits. When it’s revealed the boys are the ones who wrote the narration, it just puts everything into place.

The best part of the whole episode was a full on music video for Jackets at the very end, and I’ll have to tell you that just listening to Hank with his “Jackets!” chorus line was worth watching the whole episode two more times this morning.

Hey, it’s slow for new shows right now.
