Image Comics gives you another chance to cut your teeth on another one of its amazing series. So if you want to join me on reading this for the first time, now is your chance.

What happens when science develops to a point where animal-human hybrids aren’t the thing of science fiction anymore? Well, for starters you get a big awesome elephant like Ebony. After I got a chance last week to review the covers for this series I’ve been itching to get either the volume one trade or somehow a first issue. Now I’ve gotten at least one of those out of the way, and I hunger for more.

STORY: 98%
ART: 99%

The artwork by Ladrönn is without argument, what I think best represents comic books as a true art form. I don’t even want to know how much time and effort goes into each of these gorgeous pages because if they are done with ease, I stand in awe. You’re practically stealing the comic at it’s special $1 price, though like any good drug dealer, Image knows that you’ll easily good hooked and like me, end up hunting down a way to get your hands on more. Richard Starkings is no slouch on the story, it could have been easy for him to just half ass his part of the comic no doubt. But you don’t get that, you get the glimpse of an amazing story to come, a story that I can tell from just this first issue is something that I’ll be keeping within arms reach on my desk at home.

If you are like me, and one of the extremely late comers to this comic series, you owe it to yourself to pick up this reprint and get a taste of what you’ve been missing out on. In this reviewers honest opinion, I have a feeling this is going to be a comic series that will stick with me for a long time.
