Hitman Sequel Planned. Why?

Correct me if I’m wrong but the first Hitman movie was pretty terrible, it’s that bad it currently holds a 15% fresh rating over at Rotten Tomatoes.  The problem is the original Hitman movie which was released in 2007 and starred Timothy Olyphant, Dougray Scott and Olga Kurylenko made just under $100 million worldwide and only cost $40 million to make so a sequel was bound to appear at some point.  Fox have hired Kyle Ward a relatively unknown writer to pen the script and so far none of the original cast have signed on to reprise their original roles.  I think the cast of the original are all pretty talented and I hope they all come to their sense and don’t sign up for this, personally I think they can all do better.  Unless a miracle occurs I can’t see this sequel being any good and hopefully it’ll be condemned to straight to DVD hell and nobody will ever get to see it.  One day we’ll get a decent videogame adaptation but I think that’s a discussion for another day.
