ECCCADVTIMEAlright, geek parents! This weekend is Emerald City Comicon here in the lovely city of Seattle. Being a parent, a geek, and someone who takes my daughter to cons I’m always looking for ways to involve her in the excitement that is comicon. So I did some research and put together a list of events at ECCC that you can enjoy as a family. I actually got this idea from fellow WPR writer Adrienne Fox. Check out her ECCC: Plan of Attack—Celebrity Guests and Meet the Creators posts. In addition to those we also have schedules posted for DCBoom Studios, and Dark Horse.

Brick Nation

Our Lego display is growing again! This year, it’s taking over a whole floor of the Conference Center! Join us on TCC Level 1 to see sensational original brick designs by creators from around the Pacific Northwest. There will be at least one spaceship, spaceship, spaceship (SPACESHIP!), as well as custom-built block figures, one-of-a-kind sculptures, uncanny vehicles that you won’t see anywhere else and amazing art that can only be made with interlocking blocks.

Location: TCC Level 1

ECCC Kids!

Sponsored by The Seattle Symphony’s Pixar: In Concert

The ECCC Kids! area is back this year with lots of kid-sized fun. Join the Emerald City Caped Crusader and Caped Crusaderette for an exciting training mission where kids can win a Junior Crusader T-Shirt. Get a photo with Darth Vader and members of the 501st Legion. See the latest droids built by the R2 Builders Club. Dragon Theater Puppets and Princesses will be there with face-painting, balloon artists and fairy-tale princesses. Glitt3r Life will be on hand with jewelry and glitter tattoos. And how about the chance to win tickets to a sneak preview of Captain America: Winter Soldier? Stop by to get your photo with a virtual version of Cap and find out how to win.

New Parents’ Room and Family Break Room

Babies love Emerald City Comicon! Until they get tired, or hungry or need their diaper changed. When that happens, parents and babies are welcome to visit our New Parents’ Room (Room 201) for a quiet respite, far, far from the main floor. We’ll have a place for you to feed and diaper our youngest attendees. Next door in the Family Break Room (Room 203), kids and families can take a break from the hustle and/or bustle of the show for a quick change, snack and just de-stimulate for a bit.

Location: WSCC ROOMS 201 & 203

Stroller Check

Brought a stroller and you’re finding it too difficult to maneuver through the crowds? We will have a Stroller Check to park your wheels for a while, for when you just can’t haul the cart around the show any more. Donations for this service will be accepted with proceeds given to Child’s Play.

Location: WSCC ROOM 214
