According to long time producer, Robert Tapert, there is still credence to an “Evil Dead” revival.

Speaking in an interview Robert Tapert said:

It’s possible; we’re looking at a script this month… What’s interesting about ‘Evil Dead’ is very few people saw it in the format we made it for, which is for the theater. … I think Sam wants to embrace the ultimate experience in grueling terror and see it remade for a proper theatrical experience.

He says further in the interview that it is possible that Rami wouldn’t be directing it. Would it still have the same charm as the old film? I think the day and age that Rami made the legendary film has past. It is hard to get that same kind of scare in a theater these days. The closest movie that has come close to the style they are talking about is the Paranormal Activity films and even then we never really see the demon that is haunting these people. They would have to have the right actor(s) to be in an “Evil Dead” reboot. So much of the original films was how believable Bruce Campbell was acting off of himself for the majority of it. How would a tree raping scene come across in today’s cinema world?

One thing for certain, I wouldn’t mind seeing the film again in a theater. I haven’t had that pleasure and Rami’s films are always a great spectacle to watch.
