Dear NaughtyBear, Please Be Awesome

As you might already know, I’m a fan of more original concepts in an age where similarity and stagnation rule. For example, despite their faults, I enjoyed both Mirror’s Edge and Assassin’s Creed despite some of their more frustrating faults, as they offered something different to me from yet another first person shooter or racing game. Don’t get me wrong, I like my fair share of those two example genres too, but I’d still rather have more variety. So when I heard about the announcement of NaughtyBear this morning, I got a little excited. A game where as you play as an insane teddy bear who sadistically destroys other teddy bears? Sign me up!  The game is being made by A2M, who have made such classics as Drake and Josh on GBA, The Ant Bully on Wii and Get on da Mic on PS2. Ok, sarcasm aside, they did make WET this year, which I enjoyed the demo of but I could see that it might get repetitive. However, with a cheaper price tag of $49.99, Naughty Bear could be a fun little game if it’s done right. I’m certainly interested in seeing more ahead of it’s projected release of Q2 2010. The only thing I’m worried about is that Naughty Bear looks a little familiar…
