Days Of The Dead: Los Angeles Preview
I have my calender out and am literally counting down the days. My flight is booked, my room is reserved, my rental car is reserved and I am ready to go. Why does it have to be a month away still? Honestly, I haven’t been this excited for an event in a long, long time. Actually, it’s probably a good thing as I will need to save up my money. I’m positive I’m going to be coming back from this one broke. Well, that’s what happens when the guest list and the vendor room are so stacked.
Days Of The Dead is a national horror convention that runs in multiple locations across the country every year. They usually have about three or four shows a year on average and hit many parts of America. Their last one was this spring in Indianapolis, while they already have dates in Chicago and Atlanta in the making. They will be hitting Los Angeles in a little over a month on the weekend of September 26-28.
Days Of The Dead is already shaping up to be the biggest horror convention on the west coast in years it seems. Just by the promise of the number of guests involved (70+ by the site’s account, right now only about 40 have been announced!), this one is going to be huge, both literally and figuratively. In fact, there will be more guests on hand than any of their other events as well. Maybe it has something to do with the close proximity of many of the stars, making access to them easier. Master of horror Clive Barker, who brought us Hellraiser, Candyman and more is set to be the headliner. Corey Feldman is the headliner for Sunday, while Saw’s mastermind Tobin Bell (who rarely does conventions, by the way) will be one of the top guests on Saturday. Also appearing at the show will be Tara Reid, Ian Ziering, Sid Haig and Bill Moseley (My God, are those two at every horror convention??), Miko Hughes (the creepy kid from Pet Sematary), and many more. On Friday, there will be a Night of The Demons reunion with cast and director. On Sunday, there will be a Return of the Living Dead reunion, while the one I’m really excited for, The Thing reunion is all weekend long! On top of all of these awesome reunions, there will also be a mini Nightbreed reunion! Does this mean there may be a screening for The fabled extended Cabal Cut of Nightbreed? One can only hope. On top of all this will be nonstop around the clock films, panels, parties and more!
I already know that this will be a very busy weekend for yours truly. I will be there all weekend covering the convention for WatchPlayRead and will have extensive coverage, interviews, video and more from my time at the convention.
