Comic Review: Borderlands #1 The Fall of Fyrestone

The Borderlands comic series gives us a retelling of the Borderlands story beginning from the first game  in a graphic print format. I personally have invested a lot of hours in to this game series, and would play them over again, if it struck me.  But, while the game has a lot of DLC, some may not want to play the story mode over and over.  This graphic story of Borderlands, however, provides a fun way to revisit Pandora, and the story of the Vault Hunters.  The art is solid, even if it is a tad serious for the Borderlands setting.

Not taking a single character’s point of view or even a player’s perspective, this Borderlands series tells the story with all four of our heroes as a team. All of our favorite vault-hunters (Roland, Mordecai, Lilith, and Brick) are easily recognizable.  With Mordecai’s bird Bloodwing present in this Borderlands mini-series, I’m assuming cameos from all the quest-givers and support cast to come.  I can’t wait to see Gaige, the Mechromancer!

The story starts of exactly like the first game did, with the addition of a parallel perspective of the enemies, who now have a full dialogue of their own.  I won’t ruin it for those of you who haven’t played the games at all. I just really hope they include the DLC in to the story line. The story itself is decent sci-fi ,and good enough to stand on it’s own. I highly recommend playing the games, and reading the comic series too for some extra fun! I honestly don’t know much about the “pre-sequel” coming out this October, but they’re including laser guns and jetpacks! ‘Nuff said.  Additionally, I really dig the alternate cover with Brick atop the Outrunner vehicle, on this first issue.

Let us know what you think of the games and the comic series, and whether or not you are excited for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! If you are a fellow gamer on Xbox, and would like to play Borderlands 2, send me a friend request.  My gamer tag is Zayton Clarris!
