Borderlands has Gearbox shakin’ in their boots
Ever wonder what kind of private hell game developers put themselves through? I do, and after hearing about the private dread that Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford has been having…I don’t think I’d ever want to be in his position. His company’s big title hitting the shelves this holiday season, Borderlands, is facing some stiff competition.
“When people take risks and it’s not rewarded, in the case of Mirror’s Edge, it’s makes it harder for others to be comfortable taking risks. Yeah, I’m terrified. And an original brand, too, so it’s even more risky.
“There are those of us that play everything and we’re begging for fresh stuff, so I’m hoping that helps, and if it’s good, it’ll get noticed.”
In case you’re wondering, Borderlands is the FPS/RPG set in a distant part of the galaxy on a quasi-futuristic wild west environment. The game is touted at having over 1 million different weapons in the game…it comes out this October for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, I’m all about supporting small time developers and this game looks great so far.
