Well, given how successful the first Left 4 Dead game and now Left 4 Dead 2 have been, it was certain that we’d see some DLC down along the line. Hot off announcing the new update for Team Fortress 2, Valve have now announced a new campaign for Left 4 Dead 2. The most important part being that Bill, Francis, Louis and Zoey are back! Yep, that’s right, the original survivors will be making an appearance in the new campaign, appropriately called “The Passing” as it’ll be the only time that both sets of survivors will cross paths. Details are sketchy right now with no release date other than Spring 2010 announced but we do know that it will be set in a rural Georgia town between the “Dead Center” and “Dark Carnival” campaigns. Also mentioned are new weapons and a new uncommon common infected as well as new maps for versus, survival and scavenge, which I assume will all be based off this new campaign. Pricing is mentioned as not announced, but strangely doesn’t specify the 360 version of the game, which could possibly mean that PC players will have to cough up too, although I’m only speculating here. Given the support Valve have given to both the original Left 4 Dead and their other games like Team Fortress 2, I doubt it will cost anything on PC. I won’t mind paying as long as it’s not a baby campaign like Crash Course.

Finally, while the original survivors will make an appearance, the campaign will still take place from the new survivors’ perspectives. However, it would be nice if we could play as the original survivors as a reward for completing the campaign. Hopefully we’ll get to know what happened to the original survivors and just how they ended up in the deep south.
