Axe Cop: President of the World #1 – Comic Review

Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

What happens when a talented artist teams up with his 8-year-old brother to make a comic? Absolute genius!

Axe Cop: President of the World is the latest storyline in the Internet phenomenon known as Axe Cop. For those not familiar with Axe Cop, here’s the gist: Ethan Nicolle lets his 8-year-old brother Malachai’s imagination run completely wild and he draws the impromptu story.

Axe Cop: President of the World is an absolutely dream for both new readers and those who follow the web adventures, as continuity is not high on the list of a little kid. Because of this, new characters can appear and disappear at any time, but Axe Cop, our titular maniac of law, is forever…seriously. In this one issue, the story of Axe Cop goes through 1 million years in-universe.

While Axe Cop’s writing is absurd enough to stand on it’s own, it’s the artwork that really sells President of the World. Ethan Nicolle’s artistic ability has improved greatly since the comic’s debut in 2009, which is great, because Malachai’s characters certainly test one’s artistic limits.

Dark Horse’s Axe Cop: President of the World #1 is comic perfection incarnate. Pick it up right now…or Axe Cop will chop your head off.
