Comic Review: Halcyon #1
Usually I can find something I like in most comic books that I read, but for some reason, I had a hard time doing that with Halcyon #1. The art wasn’t bad, the writing was OK, maybe that was it, it just felt…run of the mill?
Lets All Give Her Support
We here at WatchPlayRead are sending our heartiest prayers to Crom, and sending good vibes to our newest writer and savior of the Read section of WatchPlayRead to BookwormBlues (Sarah). She’s having surgery today to get some cancer taken out and will be spending the next week or so in recovery. Lets show her how […]
The game isn’t THAT cool
Call of Duty: Black Ops hits the shelves tomorrow. So some morons in Maryland couldn’t wait, and robbed a GameStop in a Bel Air shopping center at gunpoint. Nobody is sure if the Fresh Prince was there at the time of the robbery. I know I’m going to catch some flak for this, but seriously? […]
Work Break Time: Afternoon Delight
Yes, I’ve been slacking on giving you something to do on your work breaks. I came across this today and well, even though I’m not crazy into the movies, still thought this was tongue in cheek funny. So, if you like to watch adults cosplay Harry Potter in the middle of New York’s Grand Central […]
Supreme Court Wants to Weigh in on Video Games?
The Supreme Court expressed sympathy for a California law that aims to keep children away from ultra-violent video games, but several justices said the law faces a high constitutional hurdle. The law in question is the California ban that would make it illegal for retailers to sell or rent violent video games to anyone under […]
Casual Gamers, It’s back! :UPDATED:
I think everyone has been bored to a point where they played a couple of rounds of Bejeweled to kill a couple of minutes, but then spend an hour playing instead. You know what I’m talking about, you got one hand propping up your slumped over face as you absentmindedly spend a couple of ours […]
WPR Discusses: Horror Movies
It’s that time of year, Halloween is upon up this weekend, and so we thought that have a little staff discussion about their takes on horror movies would get some interesting thoughts flowing. I want to apologize if anybody got left out, feel free to leave something in the comments!

Plants Vs Zombies: On the DS!
I’m glad that PopCap games just came on my radar recently. This is probably one of my favorite new game trailers I’ve seen lately, and we’ve posted a bunch here. Since I don’t have an iPhone, I missed them there, and after we reviewed the PC/Mac version, I knew they were a solid company. Now, […]
The Event: Why Can’t I Quit You?
Help me please. I’m drowning. I watched Lost, every episode, from start to finish. I….I don’t know if I can do this again. Every week I tell myself, ‘Ok, it’s recorded on the DVR, you don’t have to watch it.’ Yet, I never hesitate to start the show. I know that in a nutshell, this […]
Incorruptible #11: Preview/Review
I don’t read much in the world of comic books, though, this is one that I’ve started to make time for. Incorruptible surrounds Max Damage a former bad guy turned good guy, when good guy Plutonian decided to kill a couple million people. It is a great read regardless if that last sentence confused you […]
C-C-C-Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers Comic!
Alright, so this is a very welcome piece of my childhood that I never thought I would see again besides in memory. I used to love watching this show on Saturday mornings, I had beat the video game for it easily enough as a kid and still couldn’t get enough. So, when Boom! Studios lets […]
Geek Dad Report: Why Torchlight is Special to Me
My three year old has a new bedtime routine, after I put his sister to sleep in her crib around 7:30, he is usually doing one of two things. First, is standing near the door whispering at me if Finley is asleep yet so we can play the game. Second, I come upstairs, to when […]
Work Break Time: Afternoon Delight
Alright. I’m a jock. Probably the only one on this site that wasn’t in the Drama club or something. It’s my favorite time of the year, football season. Why I’m posting this is because my favorite team is the Steelers, and it’s been a lifelong dream of mine and I’m sure my dads to see […]
