Alyce Kills

Sex, Drugs and Violence. A woman’s work is never done!

Written and Directed by: Jay Lee

Starring: Jade Dornfeld, Tamara Feldman, James Duval

51LQJORDwpL._SX215_Alyce blends right into the wallpaper. She’s hardly noticed by anyone and often outshone by her best friend, Carroll. That doesn’t stop them, however, from running around town and enjoying the scenery together on a wine and drug-induced adventure. The only problem is, every decision they’ve made has lead them deeper into their binge where eventually not everything can be undone.

Originally titled “Alice,” Alyce Kills premiered at the Calgary International Film Festival in September 2011. It’s currently available at Redbox which is where I picked it up, with little knowledge of the actual storyline and low expectations. Well, I was surprised to say the least. I wouldn’t say that it’s as vengeful or disturbing as movies like I Spit on Your Grave, The Last House on the Left or Martyrs, but it certainly has its moments of intense gore. So what does Alyce do now?

Driven by a train wreck of emotions, acting on impulse and trying to forget the events that have unfolded, Alyce becomes the most unlikely subject in a ruthless path of destruction. But is it to help out her friend and rectify the damage she has caused or is it to derail those around her? Regardless of intentions, one thing is for certain: Alyce Kills.

Alyce kills, would you?

So I pose this question to you, my readers. A little curiosity on my part but mostly for the sake of conversation: How would you dispose of a body? A little dismemberment and bone crushing to spruce up your dining room maybe? How would it happen? Where would it take place? What would be your tool of choice?

Overall Rating: 7 out of 10
