Alien Prequel – DOA
In a bit of good news today, I’m happy to announce that Ridley Scott’s Alien Prequel will NOT be made. Instead he and Damon Lindelof will be making a brand new IP titled Promethius…and the best thing is that it’s still a Scott Sci-Fi movie.
Sorry for all you Alien fans out there that were hoping to see what exactly the space jockey was doing with the xenomorphs, when Ripley and Co. found all of them during the first movie, you’ll just have to make due with the comics.
Fox (the studio) and Ridley Scott were in talks for nearly two years before finally putting the kibosh on it this week. There’s a bit interview over at THR, if you want to read it. But there’s nothing really interesting revealed about the new movie in the works. It’s named, it’s got some of the story elements that he wanted to put into the Alien prequel, and that’s about it.
I’m frankly relieved that we’re not going to have yet another lazy remake/reboot coming out of Hollywood. Maybe this one will make oodles of money and force them to rethink their remake fever. Then again…probably not.
