PAX 2011: Snapshot
Once you hear the premise of Snapshot, one of the games featured in the PAX 10 this year, it’s one of those games that you know immediately whether you have to play it or not.
Snapshot is a puzzle platformer in which you play a robot who can take pictures of certain objects on the screen, which pics them up and traps them in the photograph. You can then place the objects elsewhere in the map to reach places which would be impossible otherwise. It’s made by Retro Affect, who also made the incredible flash game Depict1, which I did a Time Well Wasted on a while back. The platforming is tight and the photo mechanics are very interesting. I wasn’t able to get into the meat of the puzzling aspect of the game, but I’m sure they’ll be good.
It’s due out very soon, most likely this fall, and you’ll see it on PC and Playstation 3.
