WPR’s Box Office Report: September 15

Box Office Results for September 11-13

It was a slow weekend at the box office, The Visit opened with $25.4 million, which is well above its micro-budget of $5 million, but it was not enough to take the number one spot from The Perfect Guy.  Other newcomer 90 Minutes in Heaven only found $2 million there, after spending  30 minutes on screen longer than the title promises.  Every other film in the theaters dropped in tickets but aside from lower numbers, placement looks much like it did last weekend.  This is the last in-between weekend for movies before the early openers for the fall and awards season begin to trickle into theaters.  After this, the weekends will be a little more interesting to report on, records will be broken, disappointments will arrive, but for now, we just get to report on how well a low budget M. Night Shyamalan film performed.
