Wizards Announces “From The Vault: Legends”

Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

It’s just about that time of the year again when Wizards announces the new From The Vault collection.

This year’s offering probably has more to do with “Magic: The Gathering Commander” more than anything else. This year’s highly sought after collector’s product will be “Legends” focused. Which means we’ll get 15 or so unique foiled versions of popular Legendary Creatures from Magic’s long history. Some tidbits from the post is that at least one of the legends will be printed with black borders for the first time. This news can only mean that one of the creatures will be from the extremely hard-to-find Portal: Three Kingdoms expansion that was only released in Asia and Australia and never got a proper English print run.
Also, judging from the art they released, is one of the Legends will be Tefri. He was a popular character during his time in Standard a few years back.

Contents and Details

15 Premium foil cards, including 7 with new art
An exclusive spindown life counter
A collector’s guide
Each card has been printed using a foil process unique to the From the Vault series.
The 15 legendary creatures are all printed in the current card frame. For several, it is for the first time.
From the Vault: Legends will be available world-wide in English only, and will have an extremely limited print run.
All cards are black bordered and tournament legal. This means that these cards are legal for use in any tournaments where the original printings are still legal. For some cards, it is their first time with a black border.

You can head on over to Magic: The Gathering website and get the full details on the release. One thing to note, these sets are only sold to game stores that do a lot of events (I’m talking at least FNM and PTQ events) they also tend to sell out really quickly, so if you want to get one at a non gouged ebay price, you should head on over to your local game store today and see if they’ll preorder it for you.

Or you can go to Gen-Con this year and wait all day in line to be one of the 100 per day to be able to purchase it at the show.
