Wii Version of Super Meat Boy Cancelled

We knew the outlook for the Wii version of Super Meat Boy was looking grim, but now it’s official: the game has been cancelled. Though not all Team Meat news for Nintendo has been bad.

The reason that the developing duo Team Meat cancelled the title was two fold: Super Meat Boy was thwarted as a WiiWare release due to Nintendo’s strict size restrictions and determined to be not financially sound for a retail budget title release. However, Team Meat additionally announced that they have not given up on the Nintendo platform, as they have announced that they are now officially Nintendo 3DS developers, starting with a project that “may or may not have anything to do with Meat”. While the thought of a portable Super Meat Boy sounds amazing, I’m personally more interested in seeing what else they can do.
