Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Developer Diaries Feature Lore and Guns and More Dakka Dakka
When I first heard that we were getting “Space Marine The Game” I thought it was go ing ot be some watered down “Hur durr Gers of Wo” style game, but when I heard that THQ and Relic were working on the it and that’s when I had to find a change of pants.
In the last week we’ve had two videos posted from Relic about the new Warhammer 40k (the best Warhammer) game. I’ll link ’em and tell you what’s up with this brand new game set to his this fall.
Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Dev Diary #1 – The story
This video is a bit more of an introduction to those players who don’t know much about the Warhammer 40k story which is as such: Marines are awesome, Orks are not, so they must die.
In Space Marine the Orks have invaded an Imperial Forge World in an attempt to get their green paws on and salvage a Battle Titan. With these titans the Orks would be able to ravage worlds in the search for more Dakka Dakka. That’s where you the space marine comes in, to slay down tons of Ork Mooks and save the Forge World for everybody.
You’ll be playing as Captain Titus of the Ultramarines, but looking on the steam page and reading online indicates that you’ll also be able to play a Blood Raven. Whoo!
Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Dev Diary #2 – The Combat
This is the best video and I’ve saved it for last. If there is one thing that can be said about this game it’s that it’s explosive, action-packed, and amazingly gory. There is so much blood and so much firepower that it looks like you’ll never stop slicing Orks down with your Chainsword.
The feature they seem to be most proud of is “Fury” and what fury does is give you a boost of power when you have to clear a huge wave of Orks, are surrounded, or when just have to jam your fist into someone’s rectum.
They didn’t skip on the weapons either because you’ll be able to use your Bolt Guns, Chainswords, Thunderhammers, Battle Axes, Plasma Guns, and you know they’re gonna give you a jet pack and flame thrower.
Knowing that Relic is behind this there’s nothing to fear when they’ve done such a great job with the Dawn of War games. They treat the Warhammer franchise well and take into account what the fans want. Look for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine this fall it’ll be a day one purchase for me. [Space Marine Website]
