To celebrate VVVVVV coming to Steam, the game is launching at a special price of only $4.49, or £3.59 for Britons, which is a large cut from the game’s original $15 price tag . The deal is available until September 14th, and if you’re not entirely convinced to drop the equivalent of a pint and a half of lager on the game then there’s a demo that you can download. What is VVVVVV? Well from the demo I’ve played, it’s a 2D puzzle platformer in a retro pixel art skin. Infact it reminded me of Manic Miner or Jet Set Willy with the different coloured rooms. It breaks one of the fundamental rules of a platformer in that you can’t jump. However you can switch the gravity in a room so that you can pass an obstacle via the ceiling or vice versa. This leads to what I imagine are some very interesting puzzles. The game was critically acclaimed when it released, with our Ryan Wilson claiming “the vast amount of levels and catchy music makes this well worth it.” You heard it folks, go pick it up.
