Yo-Kai Watch Volume 1

VIZ Media launches a brand new manga series with the release of Yo-Kai Watch Volumes 1 and 2.

The supernatural comedy adventure series by Noriyuki Konishi is inspired by the Yo-Kai Watch video game, developed by LEVEL-5 for the Nintendo 3DS, and rated “A” for All Ages. Yo-Kai Watch Volumes 1 and 2 will each carry a print MSRP of $9.99 U.S. / $12.99 CAN.

Yo-kai, inspired by the yokai of Japanese folklore, can’t be seen by the human eye, unless you have a specially designed Yo-kai Watch.

In the Yo-Kai Watch manga series, Nate Adams, an average kid, who once armed with the Yo-kai Watch, can see all kinds of Yo-kai that no one else can. He instantly begins collecting new invisible friends and embarks on supernatural adventures. The Yo-kai embody various traits, such as being physically strong and gallant, tough and heroic, cute and cuddly, warm and inviting, hazy and shadowy, or are wiggly. Some of them even have ghostly magic powers or can induce status conditions. There are even robotic Yo-kai, as well as special Legend Yo-kai that can only be acquired after filling out a particular page in the Yo-Kai Dictionary.

Yo-Kai Watch is a fun kid-friendly, character-driven property that has become a major phenomenon in Japan, where it has captivated millions of fans of all ages, and we are thrilled to expand the scope of this dynamic property with the launch of the new manga series,” says Joel Enos, Senior Editor. “We look forward to fans discovering the action and excitement of this latest addition to the VIZ Media Perfect Square catalog.”

Yo-Kai Watch manga artist Noriyuki Konishi hails from Shimabara City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. He debuted in 1997 with the one-shot title, E-CUFF, which appeared in Monthly Shonen Jump Original. He is also known for manga adaptations of AM Driver and Mushiking: King of the Beetles, along with Saiyuki Hiro Go-Kū Den!Chōhenshin Gag Gaiden!!
