If you were hoping for a PSN version of Ms. ‘Splosion Man, consider your dreams crushed.

Twisted Pixel, the quirky studio behind such games as The Gunstringer, Comic Jumper: The Adventures of Captain Smiley, and ‘Splosion Man, was acquired by Microsoft Studios for an undisclosed sum. Considering the company’s love affair with the Xbox 360, we can assume there were quite a few zeroes in that check.

Twisted Pixel CEO Michael Wilford had this to say about the merger:

“It is really exciting for us to solidify our long-standing relationship with Microsoft Studios, who we consider to be the leader in digital distribution and creating new innovations in gaming like Xbox LIVE and Kinect. As part of the family of Microsoft Studios we look forward to bringing even bigger and richer experiences to Xbox and Twisted Pixel fans around the world.”

So what does this merger mean to the growing number of Twisted Pixel fans? Hopefully just a decreased game turnaround time due to an increase in resources, and not a change in their unique style of game design. Only time will tell.
