Toys R Us Posts Trade-In Values, We Laugh
We mostly raged actually but laughing makes for a better headline.
Toys R Us has recently posted their trade in values and while for some it’s mostly business as usual (Only giving $35 for Arkham Asylum for instance) a much bigger question has now been answered: What the hell will they give me for my old plastic?
Upon announcing they would be getting into the used game business TRU stated something very strange in that they would be taking all games, all the way back to the Atari 2600. This got a lot of people wondering what kind of coin they could be expecting if for some crazy reason they chose to unload these pieces of history and for some crazier reason chose Toys R Us to do it. What would classics that can go for hundreds of dollars in places like ebay turn out?
Well the answer is exactly that my friends, coins. The listings for these games can only be found under a section that although titled “Classics” seems far from it as organizing these titles ends there and things like NiGHTS Into Dreams, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Super Smash Bros. and even freaking Earthbound are listed as “Generic Title (Platform Here)”. As if this wasn’t bad enough the value of these games are all under a dollar with NiGHTS being the most with a going rate of $0.75; and I thought trading in games was a rip off before.
