Some where within the nation of Jordan, (middle east) someone has managed to secure the rights to and funding for a Star Trek theme park. I didn’t know that the middle east was that into Gene Roddenberry.
Somewhere to the tune of $1.6 Billion US dollars in funding have been secured to build the 74-hectare amusement park. The Rubicon Group Holding, who are also a CGI/Animation production group out of Amman, have secured the funding to build the theme park.
Construction work on the 74-hectare Red Sea Astrarium project in Aqaba, which will include four hotels and 17 entertainment developments, is expected to start early next year, The National reported.
But before you go off thinking that this is just some arrant venture,
The “Star Trek” attraction is being creatively developed by Paramount Recreation
….The Star Trek-themed centre will deliver a variety of multi-sensory 23rd-century experiences, culminating with a state-of-the art space-flight adventure that takes real-time immersive entertainment experiences to bold new heights.
That’s right. This is real, and really being created with the assistance of Paramount. The project is supposed to be started next year (2012) and is expected to be completed by 2015
