terminator-reboot-genesis-imagesIf it wasn’t enough for the fandom to languish after the critical failure of Terminator: Salvation, the movie’s production rights were in hell until they were fished out by Skydance Productions by the end of 2012. This move netted them the rights to make at least two movies and possible television and videogame projects.

The folks from Skydance announced the newest project titled Terminator: Genisys, that is headed to theaters on the 1st of July 2015, will not be the only movie being released. There will be two other Terminator movies being released before the rights expire in 2019 (where they’ll revert to James Cameron).

Dates for the other two movies are May 19, 2017 and June 29, 2018…though no information is currently available except the three films will be a new trilogy in the series.

Terminator: Genisys will feature a familiar face as Arnold Schwarzenegger reprises his role of a T-800 Terminator, and we’ll have a new character portrayed by Matt Smith from Dr. Who fame.

Yay more killer robot movies! I only hope they let Arnold go back to being the villain instead of the hero he portrayed in T2 and Terminator 3. Fingers crossed.
