To be honest, there’s only one notable film out this week.

April 26th
Blow Out
Year: 1981
Newly Released On: Blu-Ray (Criterion Collection)
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 89%
Synopsis: John Travolta, played by a sound effects man, accidentally records what is seemingly a political assassination. Together with a potential eyewitness, they uncover the truth.

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
Year: 1998
Newly Released On: Blu-Ray (Criterion Collection)
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 47%
Synopsis: Terry Gilliam’s cult classic adaptation of famous Gonzo Journalist Hunter S.Thompson’s book of the same name. Raoul Duke and his attorney Dr.Gonzo travel to Las Vegas to cover the Mint 400 and discover the American Dream, all while incredibly high on a endless number of different drugs and alcoholic drinks.
Editor’s Opinion: I actually have the film ready to watch since I just picked up and have started reading the book last week, so this most likely would have been the movie of the week. I’ve really enjoyed the book so far and love the Gonzo style of writing. Since the film has gotten a cult following since its release, I’m looking forward to watching it.

Bob Dylan: Don’t Look Back
Year: 1967
Newly Released On: Blu-Ray
Rotten Tomatoes rating: 100%
Synopsis: A film that follows every aspect of Bob Dylan’s life during a three week tour of England in 1965.

And those are literally the only high profile films coming out this week. A slow weekend indeed, but blame the people who decide release dates, not me.
