The Streaming Horror! Valentines Day Edition! (Week 5)
Your weekly fix for horror fans, whether you’re a noob, or a master of horror.
All these movies can be found on Netflix Instant Watch, and all are worth watching no matter your experience level.
So here are my recommendations!
Noob: So you’re new to the horror genre. Maybe you’re just curious. Either way, you haven’t seen many horror movies and you want to build up your list. Here’s a must see.
Doug Bradley, Andrew Robinson, Clare Higgins, Ashley Laurence, Sean Chapman, Oliver Smith, Robert Hines
Written and directed by Clive Barker, this genius love story has it all. Demon S&M masters from hell, zombie ex-lovers looking for a skin graft, puzzle boxes and infidelity. I like this movie a lot, and it’s just one of those classics you have to see! This is not only the first horror movie I remember watching, this is the first movie I remember watching period. I’m a big fan of Clive Barker’s work, and I think you will be too after watching this snuggled up with your Valentines date.
Overall Rating: 8 out of 10
Intermediate: So you’ve seen a fair amount of horror. In fact, you are the horror guy among your group of friends. Well here are some picks for you.
Paul Kelman, Lori Hallier, Neil Affleck, Keith Knight, Cynthia Dale, Helene Udy, Alf Humphreys, Rob Stein,Tom Kovacs, Peter Cowper
Ok, ok, ok! I did this a few weeks ago, I know! Did you watch it? You should have! If you didn’t, what better day to watch it than on Valentines day? This movie is great, and a great way to set the mood! I’m going to watch it tonight with my lady! If you didn’t catch my recommendation last time, this is a killer flick about a town under attack by a masked miner who doesn’t want the Valentines day dance to take place. He even cuts out the hearts of his victims and sends them as Valentines. You can’t get better than this.
Overall Rating: 7.5 out of 10
Master: You’ve seen every horror movie worth a damn. You’re the guy your friends call around Halloween when they need the scariest horror movie ever made. You help them out even though they wind up with a copy of Paranormal Activity 3 and your undying hatred. Obviously you don’t need my recommendations ’cause you’ve seen it all, but here it is anyway on the chance one fell through the cracks!
Kåre Hedebrant, Lina Leandersson, Per Ragnar, Henrik Dahl, Karin Bergquist, Peter Carlberg, Ika Nord, Mikael Rahm, Karl-Robert Lindgren, Anders T. Peedu
A truly heart warming tale about a lonely boy who befriends a little girl who happens to be a centuries old vampire. This movie is well written, well directed, and just all around amazing. If you saw the American version and think you got the picture, you’re wrong! “Let me in” was ok, and although it did have a good soundtrack, the bad CGI kind of ruined it for me. If you decide to watch any of these three movies with your sweetheart, I’d pick this one (as long as you’re both literate ’cause it is subtitled.)
Overall Rating: 9 out of 10
So there are my recommendations for you. Next week I’ll have three more. Enjoy these movies while you can, ’cause these often don’t stay streaming forever!
