The King of Fighters XIII Coming to Steam
Fighting gamers, you can stop pinching yourself…it’s real.
September 13 is the big day for the PC release of The King of Fighters XIII: Steam Edition. For those of you out of the fighting game loop, yes, there are indeed more games than Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat in this genre, and The King of Fighters has been lovingly munching up quarters from many a fan since 1994.
The PC release of The King of Fighters XIII might be coming more than three years after the initial release in Arcade, but it’s bringing a number of exclusive features to this version, the biggest of which being a vast overhaul of their netcode. Fighting game fans know that netcode can make or break the online experience of their favorite games, as even the slightest latency could be the difference between victory and cheap defeat. The other big addition to the game is the free inclusion of formerly DLC characters “Iori with the Power of Flames”, “NESTS Style Kyo” and “Mr. Karate”, upping the roster to 36 characters.
If you can’t wait until September 13, SNK Playmore is looking for 300 participants for their Closed Beta Test. If applicants reach over 300, winners will be determined by lottery. To get into the drawing, simply fill out this form by August 18th. Winners will be notified by mail on the 19th, and the Closed Beta Test will official take place from August 20th to August 29th.
The King of Fighters XIII: Steam Edition can be preordered at $24.99 (a $5 discount from retail) on Steam right now.
