And now for something completely weird.
Today’s sleep killer is not particularly scary, but it will at times disturb you. Legend has it that Sonic Team needed a killer app for the Sega 32X that would not only blow everyone out of the water, but would sell both the 32X and the Sega CD. Before you cry shenanigans, yes, there were in fact six games released that required the Sega trinity to play (granted they were all enhanced versions of Sega CD titles, but still). Unable to come up with something new and great by the time of release, they decided to take the best-selling Sonic 2 and work on an enhanced version of that.
Needless to say, the game never left the studio, but LP’er docfuture was able to snag an unfinished copy of the game. Let’s just say that some things were better off buried. Here is the enhanced version of Emerald Hill Zone:
