Thanks Lion King, Disney Is Doing More 3D Re-releases

Because the weeks that Disney had The Lion King in 3D in the theaters made more money as a re-release than all of the current year movies that were out, they’re going to start milking that cow even harder now. When a movie as classic as The Lion King makes 80 million dollars so far, it’s hard to not see what your other movies will take in.

Currently the big announcement is that we’ll be seeing the following:

  • Beauty and the Beast (01/13/12)
  • Finding Nemo (09/14/12)
  • Monsters, Inc. (01/18/13)
  • The Little Mermaid (09/13/13)

Yeah, with my little kids, it’s already a given that Disney will be getting 4 tickets from my family for each of these movies, whether I want to see them or not. What do you guys think though, is this overkill or giving us fans of these movies when we were kids (and frankly we all probably watched on crappy VHS tapes) now we get a chance to see it on the big screen with our kids or solo for your childless types.

It’s that weird thing where, you don’t really HAVE to go see it again, but yet you DO because really, when are you going to get a chance to see any of these movies in a theater ever again?
