Deadline ran into Quentin Tarantino at a post Oscars party and he confirmed to them that he’s working on a western and that the script is already complete. It was rumoured yesterday that he was involved in a new Western project with Italian actor Franco Nero. Supposedly the film is called “The Angel, The Bad and The Wise”  and will be a tribute to the Spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone. Tarantino, Keith Carradine and Treat Williams were rumoured to be involved, and even more out there was that Tarantino would be reuniting with Christoph Waltz for a main role. Tarantino has wanted to do a Western for a while, but nothing has come to fruition.

Provided the rumour and the confirmation are linked, then it sounds like Tarantino has some large part in this Western project, whether it’s a directing gig or not. While we’ve known that it’s a genre he’s wanted to take on, nothing hasn’t happened yet. However, if he’s finished the script for the project already then it can’t be long until it’s put into production. I just know that I’ll watch anything the man touches. Hopefully we’ll find out some more concrete details soon.

Update: Sources close to Tarantino say that the project name is completely wrong but Tarantino’s next film is a Spaghetti Western and will star Christoph Waltz

Update 2: Sources are now saying that the Tarantino project is separate to Nero’s project and may not be a straight Spaghetti Western.
