Tales from the Crypt Wants to Rise from the Dead

One of HBO’s greatest horror anthology shows is on the verge of returning!

Inspired by stories from Comic Book Authority scapegoat EC Comics, Tales from the Crypt originally ran from 1989 to 1996, offering some pretty impressive horror-comedy with a charismatic (yet nightmare inducing) host. Now, fifteen years later, original show producer Gil Adler and BOOM! Studios co-founder Andrew Cosby want to bring the show back to the airwaves, albeit in a different format.

While still inspired by the original comics, this new series will ditch the single episode storyteller format of the original series for an hour long format focusing on the characters themselves. Sorry, Cryptkeeper fans, the cackling pun machine will likely not return for this iteration. As of this posting the show is currently being shopped around for potential buyers, so keep your fingers crossed. We can only hope that the show gets picked up by a cable network, because a broadcast channel just doesn’t seem to fit the edginess required for a show like this.
