What I WPR’d This Week #3

by under FEATURED on Sep 21st
This week is going to be a little interesting. I actually WPR’d a lot of stuff now I’m trying to recall everything that I did in a week. So, bear with me while I figure out my thoughts. This time I think it is going to be mostly devoted to how much the prolific rock band, The Beatles, seethed into everything I did this week.

The Value Proposition

by under PLAY on Aug 16th
More than any other group of people who consume entertainment, I believe gamers are one of the largest group that are always on the hunt for bargains. With websites like Cheap Ass Gamer and PC Game Deals, it’s even easier for us to find great games on the cheap. For some reason, most reviews leave out the value proposition all together. “Is this game worth $60?” is a question I get all the time from...

Marvel to Make Halo: The Fall of Reach Comic

by under PLAY, READ on Jun 23rd
I’ll admit, I’m an abject Halo whore. I’ll defend this series until the ends of time. The game series was singlehandedly responsible for my bad grades in my Junior year of college (thanks to me buying an Xbox and Halo: CE instead of books). I’ve read all of the books, watched the movies, end even the graphic novels that have led up to the announcement that I’m making today. Marvel, is going...

Remedy Games: Going all in on Alan Wake

by under PLAY on Feb 18th
Here’s the situation. You’re the short stack at the table. You’re behind in the count and your opponent has just raised you on the Turn card. You’d have to go All In to call him. You are holding a flush draw. What do you do?!? If you are Remedy Games, developers of the highly anticipated Alan Wake, you call. And then you pray that the River card is a spade and not a heart.

MWN Reviews: I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES IN IT!!!!1

by under PLAY, READ on Aug 20th
Xbox 360 Indie Games are still in their infancy right now and while there a few diamonds in the rough, most of the games are, quite frankly, garbage. But then, like I said, there are diamonds in the rough and one of the latest examples would be I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES IN IT!!!!1, developed by James Silva who also made the XBLA game The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai. After hearing people praising the game, I gave the trial...

Alpha Protocol Brings you “Tasteful” Videogame Sex

by under PLAY on Jul 23rd
If you thought the scenes in Mass Effect were too tame, get ready because the guys behind Alpha Protocol are going to be bringing us some “satisfying” and “tasteful” sex scenes…Yeah, as if anything involving sex can be seen as anything other than an abomination here in the United States. We do some things with our cinematics, too. It isn’t just like a hand up on a thing! We cut around...

SFIV Tips: Part 2 – Anti-Douchebaggery

by under PLAY on Mar 12th
Ok, so by now I’m hoping that you have found yourself a character. A character that you are comfortable enough with to actually go take on other real humans. Playing online can be extremely rewarding, but it can also cause someone to piss themselves, cry, and return SFIV to the store never speaking of it again. So the first thing you’re going to want to do, is stay out of the ranked matches. Sounds cool to...

Gibbo’s Corner 1/3/09

by under Uncategorized on Mar 1st
Welcome to for now, Gibbo’s Corner, my replacement feature for Weekend PSAs. Listen to me ramble on about whatever I want. This week you can hear me talking about why I can’t show propaganda bullshit every week, training for Street Fighter IV,  sticking it to the guy on Reddit who laughed at me wondering whether the L4D DLC would be free on the 360 and why there’s no Whores Of The Round Table Episode...

SFIV Tips: Part 1 – Character Selection for Beginners

by under PLAY on Feb 27th
So you’ve picked up SFIV and you’ve been playing it for a few days. As you continue to grind through the game with it set on ‘Easiest’ difficulty to unlock characters, you think to yourself, “Man… this game is pretty damn easy.” Well my friend, there is a whole world of depth that awaits you, if you invest the time to discover it. You will lose a lot at first, you will curse...

Lionhead Staff Hocking Their Wares

by under READ on Feb 24th
Looks like some of the staff at Lionhead are having themselves a clear out. Jamie Durrant, a senior artist and sculptor is selling a one of a kind latex Hobbe mask he created for display in the Lionhead offices on eBay. To be honest I’m actually rather taken by this piece, I was a huge fan of the first Fable despite it’s shortcomings and I would love to own such a unique item. However the auction is running...

This Just In: I Suck At Street Fighter IV

by under PLAY on Feb 24th
Well, after getting Street Fighter IV this past Friday I have come to the conclusion that I am even worse than when I was a chillun playing on SFII on the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis for you Yanks). I spent the best part of three hours facing off against Seth today. I was greeted with loss after loss with my best character from SFII, Vega. Bear in mind this was on easiest difficulty and the sad fact gets sadder. I was going...
