PS3 3.0 What Does It Do?

by under PLAY on Jun 26th
(If anyone reads today that there’s a new PS3 Firmware 3.0 coming out and is actually surprised about that, then you need to have your gamer card revoked.) Around xmas time this year, the new firmware is slated to be released (which means I’ll download it sometime in February) and will apparently do everything but make you some deliciously cooked bacon sandwiches.

SFIV Tips: Part 1 – Character Selection for Beginners

by under PLAY on Feb 27th
So you’ve picked up SFIV and you’ve been playing it for a few days. As you continue to grind through the game with it set on ‘Easiest’ difficulty to unlock characters, you think to yourself, “Man… this game is pretty damn easy.” Well my friend, there is a whole world of depth that awaits you, if you invest the time to discover it. You will lose a lot at first, you will curse...

This Just In: I Suck At Street Fighter IV

by under PLAY on Feb 24th
Well, after getting Street Fighter IV this past Friday I have come to the conclusion that I am even worse than when I was a chillun playing on SFII on the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis for you Yanks). I spent the best part of three hours facing off against Seth today. I was greeted with loss after loss with my best character from SFII, Vega. Bear in mind this was on easiest difficulty and the sad fact gets sadder. I was going...

Remote Masseuse: Online love takes a bold step forward

by under PLAY on Feb 13th
I was hanging out in an IRC chat room today when one of the people there casually mentioned he had developed a game for the XBL Marketplace using the XNA library for Visual Studio. While this isn’t that rare of a thing, what was interesting was the game itself. It’s a game that uses the rumble feature of the 360 controllers to massage a friend. Now, the fun part is that you don’t decide exactly what...

Demo Daze: Mirror’s Edge

by under PLAY on Nov 4th
Yesterday after waiting what seemed like an eternity thanks to my internet connection going batshit insane and slowing to a crawl, I got myself the Mirror’s Edge demo off the Xbox-Live Marketplace. To be honest I haven’t really been keeping track of the game, I knew the focus of the game was on parkour (free running) stunts but that was about it. After loading up the demo and giving it a go, what can I say,...

I Hate Haters… Does That Even Make Sense?

by under PLAY on Oct 9th
Now look. I know we’re all about having fun here at Media Whore Network, but I’ve got to get serious for a minute. It’s not something I usually do, but there’s been this thing that’s been bugging me for a long time, and I just wanted to get it off my chest. I’m normally a quiet individual who keeps to himself, but to quote one of my favorite movies of all time, I’m mad as hell...

Bionic Commando: Rearmed is Retro SEX

by under PLAY on Aug 21st
The first game that I ever recieved for my NES is one that I have rambled on and on about for over 20 years now. Bionic Commando was one of those rare gems for a system that wasn’t known exactly for its technical prowess. To this day, it remains one of the few 8-bit games that manages to impress me each time that I play it. I nearly had a heart attack when I found out last year that not only were they doing a...

RLR #1 – Kung Fu

by under PLAY on Aug 13th
Here it is folks, it took a bit too long to make but its finally done. After 8 hours of editing and a few muttered cuss-words you have in front of you the Red Light Roundtable episode number 1. If this show were a comic, this would be the one that you’d want to stuff into a lexan case and hold onto for 5 generations. Actually the show went pretty well, most of the panel are podcasting virgins and this one ripped...
