I was introduced to The Protomen by a dear friend and contributor to WPR, Evan Burkey. The whole concept of a band being inspired by Capcom’s Mega Man game series was something that I was practically salivating over until I heard their first album, after which I was made a lifelong fan. A group that is capable of twisting the never ending battle between the good Thomas Light and the dastardly Albert Wily into a soon...

I know I say this all too often, but when I started this website years ago, I never once envisioned being able to interview influential bands, or people who I adore. I picked up The Protomen at the insistence of our very own Evan Burkey and honestly didn’t know what to think of a band who used the Mega Man game series from Capcom as their base story for their music. I knew I’d like it because it was videogame...

Now that Dr. Light had been tried for a crime he didn’t commit and was found innocent, he has lived his life in banishment from the city he helped create. Time had passed, years in fact had passed and a new generation of children had grown up under Wily’s rule and the machine populace that made man unimportant.

I think today I’m going to throw you a bit of a curveball. Instead of a group who uses gaming music as their medium, how about a group that is inspired by videogames and base their entire work on one game in particular.
