Mix 2 cups Metroid, 1 cup Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, 2 tbsp Metal Gear, sprinkle in a dash of Orson Scott Card. Cook at 375 til modern and golden. Garnish with awesome.

We start this year off the correct way…and that can only mean that it’s time once again for a new year’s season worth of RLR. We’re back with a vengeance and a full panel this week, and it was awesome. But you don’t have to take my word for it.  

Metroid: Other M – Trailer

Have you ever wondered about Samus’s past? Maybe to do with her time spent in the Galactic Federation? Well then, we have a treat for you kiddies. Nintendo was nice enough to share a new trailer for it’s upcoming epic, Metroid: Other M. I know it’s become cliche to say, but I’ll for sure be dusting off my Wii for certain when this game is released this June.  

Review: Samus Sexy in Plastic Form

Being an avid Metroid fan as well as a collector, I often scour the innerness for pieces of Samus memorabilia. Usually I am not looking to spend a lot of money but as soon as I saw this piece, I knew I had to have it. Of course I was delayed in purchasing it but I was able to get one before they were shipped out. Now having received it, I’ll let you know if it was worth it.

There’s NO SUCH THING as Metroidvania!

Never have I heard this name/term used so much ever since the announcement of the new XBLA game Shadow Complex. Now I see stories and articles are led with this made up and fake genre. Just seems like one big mistake made by a not-in-the-know developer and the rest of the press just followed suit. Hooray for bloggers!!! What’s my beef with this term being thrown around? Well for the most part, it isn’t accurate... 

The Only REAL Samus, Movie Role Choice

With a number of quality games under her power-suit belt, this heroine has rolled into the hearts of many Nintendo fans like myself. The anticipation with her next two releases, Metroid Prime Trilogy and Metroid: Other M, are pretty high and I can’t help but wonder if they will resurrect the idea of making a movie. A sickening thought to (probably) tarnish the great series we all hold so dearly to our pants…errr... 

Shadow Complex is Super Metroid on Steroids

Wow, there’s alot to love here. Not only does the gameplay remind me of the ‘Metroidvania’ that I’ve grown to love since it’s inception with the original Metroid, but it has some serious Contra elements thrown in the mix. Chair Entertainment is going to be a household name for gamers once this game drops on August 19th for 1200 MSP ($15). The script for the game is written by none other...
