The Traveler #5 – Review

by under READ on Mar 27th
When I first started reading the Mark Waid / Chad Hardin project, The Traveler…I was torn. I loved the hell out of the art and the overall style of the book, but for some reason the story wasn’t there for me, that is until this issue.

I Finally Read It – Irredeemable Volumes 1-3

by under FEATURED on Feb 2nd
As promised I’m back with thoughts on the series Irredeemable. Seeing that I’ve been slacking on a lot of good comics, I’ve also decided to start a new feature “I Finally Read It.” This will give me a good excuse to catch up with all the great things I’ve been hearing about in the sequential art industry. I know WPR’s own Chad-san has already reviewed quite a few issues of Irredeemable but I thought I’d...

Incorruptible #14 – Review

by under READ on Jan 27th
Mark Waid is doing some great things with the superhero genre. I wish I knew more about it. Incorruptible #14 is the first issue I’ve read of this series. That phrase has been used by myself far too much lately. However, I’m going to make recompense for my geek sins. Firstly, reading this issue was a pleasure. The art by Marcio Takara was crisp and believable. One thought, and I could be wrong here, it seems like...

Comic Book Review: Starborn #2

by under READ on Jan 13th
“Stan Lee’s (fill in comic title here) are words that comic readers have long been unimpressed with. Yes, we must admit it true believers, Stan Lee is fifty years past his prime. When was the last time his name on a cover got you all hot and bothered dear reader? Let’s be honest, Mr. Lee hasn’t written a decent comic since Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko did it for him in the swingin’ 60’s.

Incorruptible #11: Preview/Review

by under READ on Oct 26th
I don’t read much in the world of comic books, though, this is one that I’ve started to make time for. Incorruptible surrounds Max Damage a former bad guy turned good guy, when good guy Plutonian decided to kill a couple million people. It is a great read regardless if that last sentence confused you or not. Max and his lovely sidekick Headcase (passed out in the car) have Alana Patel, former girlfriend of...

Incorruptible #9

by under READ on Sep 4th
Something is coming down the turnpike in Incorruptible #9. Literally. The only problem is Max Damage and Jailbait are in Star City tracking down the one who leaked Max Damage’s secret invulnerability to his enemies:  one of the Plutonian’s ex-girlfriends. This does not lead to the big clash between the Plutonian and Max that I have been waiting for, but we do have a quick trip down memory lane that teases...

Irredeemable #16

by under READ on Aug 4th
After last issue’s big battle, Irredeemable #16 takes quite a turn.  This issue of Irredeemable is a series of vignettes.  Mostly quiet moments, though a couple are violent,  in the lives of the characters. This is my favorite issue of Irredeemable lately.

Irredeemable #15

by under READ on Jul 8th
I said earlier that Incorruptible had moved past Irredeemable on my scale of favorites.  My issues with Irredeemable include the sprawling plot and the many characters.  However, these are not, inherently bad things.  This is still a good comic. I am wondering if I should just have kept reading it in trade paperback format so that I could keep the larger picture in my head in one sitting.  Going month to month has...
