Uh, don’t mind me, hun. I’m just watching Supergirl Season 1 in 1080p HD.

Supergirl-Season-1-Blu-Ray Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this blog post. The opinions I share are my own.

We were big fans of the first season of Supergirl here at WPR. The show was pretty fantastic as far as first seasons go. Supergirl was the focus, and Superman, her cousin was regulated to text messages and chat rooms. This was all fine by me, they needed to establish her on her own, and the first season did an excellent job of that.

We’ve already talked about the first season extensively here and on our Geek Dad Report podcast, so I’ll jump into what you need to really know about the new Blu-Ray and DVD Release of Supergirl Season 1 on August 9th. Aside from all the episodes, we got some nice little bonus features that help give you some great perspective into the show.

Blu-Ray & DVD Features:

  • 2015 Comic-Con Panel: Warner Bros. Television Presents a Night of DC Entertainment at Comic-Con 2015: Supergirl
  • The Man From Mars: Superman once described J’onn J’onzz as “the most powerful being on the face of the Earth.” This documentary will explore J’onn J’onzz’s current circumstances on Supergirl as the alien who swore an oath to a dying father to protect his daughters.
  • A World Left Behind: Krypton: Kara Zor-El’s home planet of Krypton was destroyed in the opening minutes of the pilot. It was a spectacular, futuristic society filled with mystery and intrigue! This documentary will explore the history of this famous planet and its role and depiction in Supergirl.
  • Gag Reel
  • Deleted Scenes

From what I’ve been able to watch (Thanks Olympics, and my wife hogging the only working Big Screen/Blu-Ray Player every night since I got my review copy, maybe we should get a DVR) The episodes look and sound great in 1080p and DTS-HD Master Audio. The Gag Reel kept me smiling, and I loved the Man from Mars and World Left Behind features, they added some depth to the show and really do help you get some more perspective.

If you’re a fan of Supergirl Season 1, I don’t see why you should not be picking up your copy. Especially since Season 2 will be on the CW for what is going to be super awesome DC comics week. Oh and that other dude in the red cape will be showing up next season, he’s like, related something? I forget his name. Get this season for the nerds in your life, especially if you are looking for something to empower your youngins. Trust me, there is nothing more awesome than when your little girl turns a blanket into a cape and pretends to be Supergirl flying around kicking ass. This show does a hell of a lot more than that “other” comic book company offerings of female leads. You can pick up your copy of Supergirl Season 1 on August 9th, 2016 (tomorrow) you won’t regret it!
