The author of the Halo: Fall of Reach script has been shopping his wares out to any and every movie studio that will take it. Most notably, there has been considerable interest in making the movie from none other than Steven Spielberg.
Apparently Dreamworks has a new independent studio that has distribution rights through Walt Disney that is looking for a major blockbuster to help get it started and rolling since they lost Transformers 2 to Paramount.
“IESB has learned exclusively (believe me this is solid and I’ve confirmed it three times over with studio executives and our close ties to CAA) that one of the biggest producers in Hollywood history is currently in active negotiations to develop the feature film adaptation and no it’s not Jerry Bruckheimer or Peter Jackson. It’s the man behind Jaws, E.T., Indiana Jones and Transformers, Mr. Steven Spielberg. Spielberg is blown away by writer Stuart Beattie’s take on the game in his script entitled Halo: The Fall of Reach.”
I for one, hope this is true. I doubt that we’ll see the dream-team of Blomkamp/Jackson getting anywhere near the Halo movie series after the mishandling that occurred the last time, if Spielberg takes it on himself (and doesn’t farm it out to another director) we should see an interesting movie…Who wants to be that he’ll try to find a spot for a child actor or two in the film?
