Silent Hill: Revelation officially announced
It’s took a while but a second Silent Hill film is being made. The film is called Silent Hill: Revelation (3D, urgh) and has started shooting today in Toronto. It is being directed by Michael J.Bassett, who previously directed Solomon Kane and Deathwatch. It appears that where as the first film was loosely based on the first game, this sequel is based on Silent Hill 3. The sypnosis is as follows:
For years, Heather Mason and her father have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.
I don’t know about you but Silent Hill is the only video game film I’ve actually enjoyed. While some of the plot details conflicted with the games, it felt pretty faithful to the themes of the series and it did a good job at capturing the creepy atmosphere of the town and the otherworld. Plus it had Sean Bean, which always helps. Silent Hill 3 would fit in with the first film given the first and third games link together, so it’s just a matter of actually making a good film.
