Rubber Soul and Sgt. Pepper albums as DLC in future for Beatles:Rock Band
People who are complaining about Abbey Road being day one DLC for The Beatles:Rock Band have more to complain about today as deep within a 9 page article on the game, New York Times reveals that Rubber Soul and Sgt.Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band will be coming as DLC as well as the previously announced Abbey Road.It also mentions that you will be able to download individual songs from the albums, if that wasn’t already known. No this will no doubt cause another backlash, but if The Beatles:Rock Band included all of these albums then people would complain about the other albums being absent. The game’s on disc setlist is more of a “best of” than albums anyway.
Other interesting information I got from the article was:
The game features a fantasy version of The Beatles where nothing went wrong at all, so it won’t delve into the darker moments of the band. For example, as the article states, no Eric Clapton on “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”.
Since The Beatles feature more than two guitars, the charts for the lead guitar line will mix in the best parts of rhythm and lead in each song. This is a bit disappointing really but understandable. It’s a shame that we’ll probably never be able to play just rhythm in music games like in Guitar Hero 2.
Yoko Ono basically wanted virtual Lennon to be hogging all of the attention in the game. Not surprising in the slightest.
Apparently the audience “roared” when Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr came on stage at E3 2009. I watched that conference and they didn’t sound like they were roaring. All I remember is two music stars shoved onto a stage about an industry they have no interest in.
I’m Looking Through You and Hey Bulldog were mentioned but they may or may not be in the game.
The article itself is an interesting read, although it’s 9 pages so make sure you have the time.
