Robocop Reboot Without Aronofsky

MGM is hoping that all of the pro-Robocop news out in the world right now will push people to get their asses in theaters. With Peter Weller speaking to Detroit and them erecting a statue in the city, why not?

The original director for the reboot was to be Mr. Aronofsky who would have taken the series to new, if not strange, heights. Instead we’re to be treated to the American big box office debut of José Padilha (not the terrorist), who is riding high off of his highest grossing film in Brazil, Elite Squad 2. Which, if you haven’t seen it, is a damn fine movie.

Considering the massive amounts of fail that we had from Robocop 2 and Robocop 3, we should good to go as long as they manage to squeeze in a “I’d buy that for a dollar” somewhere.
